The Ogun state Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) on Wednesday, apprehended 30 suspected illegal immigrants in the state capital, Abeokuta.
Confirming the arrest, the NIS Comptroller in Ogun, Abosede Olayemisi, told newsmen that the illegal migrants, who were Beninoise and Congolese were not only guilty of illegal immigration but also culpable of duping fellow immigrants.
She said that the suspects were caught while defrauding their fellow nationals with promise of unexistent businesses.
According to her, their shenanigans was demeaning to the nation’s security and image, and would not be handled light.
She added that the suspects would immediately be repatriated to their respective origin’s after due diligence by the NIS.
She said , “They are 30 in number and we apprehended them at their office where they gathered and doing illicit business, they are defrauding fellow foreign nationals by bringing them in and collecting money from them. They promised them employment in Nigeria.
“After taking money from them, they threw them to the street. The next thing is to repatriate them back to their home countries”.
