In the ongoing war against insurgence, the Nigerian Army announced that it troops have neutralized a notorious terrorist leader, Maikusa, who is identified to be the second-in-command in the hierarchy of the terrorists’cells in Katsina State.
This was disclosed in a statement by Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director, Army Public Relations.
According to Nwachukuwu, Maikusa and three others were gunned down during a counter insurgency operation in Katsina State’s Kurfi and Safana Local Government Areas.
He said terrorists, who vehemently resisted during the attack were gallantly overpowered by the troops’ superior firepower, who neutralized many of the terrorists, while others fled.
He said troops recovered two AK-47 rifles, three magazines, 65 rounds of 7.62 mm Special ammunition, a locally fabricated gun and a camouflage uniform.
He further stated that the operation resulted in the clearing of terrorists’ enclaves in the area.
“The ferocious operation also resulted in the successful clearance of terrorists’ enclaves in these areas.
“In continuation of the clearance operations, troops also destroyed terrorists’ camps in Wurma, Shaiskawa, Yauni, and Dogon Marke villages in Kurfi LGA, as well as Ummadau and Zakka villages in Safana LGA,” he added.
