The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced plans to commence a nationwide monkeypox vaccination campaign starting October 8. This decision comes in response to the rising cases of monkeypox infections across the country.
The vaccination drive aims to curb the spread of the viral disease and protect vulnerable populations, including healthcare workers, children, and those living in high-risk areas. The Ministry of Health has identified key regions where the outbreak has been most severe, and these areas will be prioritized in the vaccination rollout.
The Minister of Health stated that Nigeria has secured a significant number of vaccine doses, which will be distributed to all states in the country. The government is working closely with international health organizations and vaccine manufacturers to ensure a steady supply and distribution of the vaccines.
