The Minister of Sports Development, Sen. John Owan Enoh, has been awarded the prestigious Africa Sustainability Man of the Year 2023 Award for his exemplary leadership and transformational approach to sports development in Nigeria.
The award was presented to him at the 17th edition of the Sustainability, Enterprise and Responsibility Awards (SERAS), which was held in Lagos on Friday, in recognition of his contributions to sustainable leadership and the rejuvenation of Nigeria’s sports ecosystem.
The award organizers hailed Enoh’s clear policy directions and his passionate efforts to transform Nigeria’s sports sector for the greater good of the nation.
They also commended his newly unveiled six-point agenda, known as W.A.I.F.A.R (Welfare, Activation of sports as business, Infrastructure development, Funding for sports, Activation of grassroots sports development, and Reorganization of sports federations), which they described as a game-changer in the sports sector.
In addition to his leadership in sports development, Enoh’s philanthropic efforts were also commendable.
The organizers of the award highlighted his commitment to philanthropy over the decades through the JOE Foundation, which they said has played a pivotal role in liberating the peoples of Africa from the shackles of poverty, perpetual dependence, and underdevelopment.
Overall, the Africa Sustainability Man of the Year 2023 Award was a well-deserved recognition of Sen. John Owan Enoh’s outstanding contributions to sustainable leadership and transformational leadership in the sports ministry, as well as his commitment to philanthropy and the betterment of the lives of Africans.
