At the ongoing 7th National Youth Games (NYG) in Asaba, Delta, the athletes representing Team Anambra have made a remarkable impact by winning five medals on Tuesday.
The team has secured two gold, two silver, and a bronze medal and has registered themselves on the medals table.
Chibuikem Oranye, a Taekwondo athlete, has won two gold medals for the team in the poomsae event single and the team event category.
Meanwhile, Ogechi Elechi and Chibuikem Oranye joined forces to win another gold medal in the Taekwondo Poomsae team event.

The team has also won two silver medals.
In the female rugby category, the team has secured the second position, while Ethel Jimoh has won silver in the Gymnastics Vault event.
Elechi has also added a bronze medal to the team’s tally by winning the individual Poomsae event.
Patrick-Estate Onyedum, the Chairman of Anambra State Sports Development Commission, praised the team for their remarkable feat.
He expressed his confidence in the team’s ability to win more gold medals as the competition progresses.
The team’s competitive spirit and remarkable performance have impressed everyone, and they have become a strong contender for the top spot.
