Public Uproar Leads to Emergency Meeting
Engr. Abdullahi Sule, the Governor of Nasarawa State, has taken decisive action by suspending the Chairman and members of the State Teachers Service Commission (TSC) following the illegal recruitment of over 1,000 teachers. This move came after the governor had earlier in the year sanctioned the hiring of exactly 1,000 teachers, with instructions for their salaries to be disbursed.
Non-Payment Sparks Public Outcry
Despite the approval, the public expressed significant discontent due to the non-payment of salaries for the newly recruited teachers. This led Governor Sule to call an urgent meeting with TSC members, the Education Commissioner, and other ministry officials at the Government House in Lafia to investigate the payment discrepancies.

Admission of Overstepping Recruitment Limits
During the meeting, it was revealed that the TSC had exceeded its mandate, employing over 2,000 teachers instead of the approved 1,000. The admission of this unauthorized recruitment by the TSC Chairman and members prompted immediate action from the governor.
Investigation Committee Formed
Displeased with the breach of protocol, Governor Sule not only suspended the implicated officials but also mandated the establishment of a committee. This committee’s task is to thoroughly investigate the recruitment excess and provide a detailed report that will guide further actions to rectify the situation.
