The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) made it known on Tuesday that the earlier proposed N200,000 minimum wage is no longer realistic, given the current economic situation in the country.
The NLC’s National Vice President, Tommy Etim, mentioned that the socio-economic challenges and the devaluation of the naira were not as severe when the N200,000 figure was initially suggested.
He clarified that the NLC is not entering the negotiation with a fixed amount but emphasized that N200,000 is no longer tenable, and the new minimum wage will be determined based on the prevailing socio-economic conditions.
