Mohammed Mohammed has officially assumed the role of Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), taking over from his predecessor, Ahmed Rufai Abubakar.
The transition of leadership was marked by a formal handover ceremony, as seen in a video shared by the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) on Tuesday, August 27.
President Bola Tinubu appointed Mohammed Mohammed as the new NIA DG following the resignation of Ahmed Rufai Abubakar. The appointment signals a new chapter for the agency, which is responsible for overseeing Nigeria’s foreign intelligence and counterintelligence operations.
During the handover ceremony, Abubakar passed the leadership baton to Mohammed, symbolizing the continuity of the agency’s mission under new guidance. The outgoing DG, who served with distinction during his tenure, expressed confidence in Mohammed’s ability to lead the NIA and build on the foundation laid by his predecessors.
