The Defence Headquarters has announced the completion of its investigation into the bombing of Tudun Biri village in Kaduna state. According to Director of Defence Media Operations, Edward Buba, the probe identified two Nigerian Army officers responsible for the incident.
Speaking at a press briefing, Buba stated that the officers would face court-martial proceedings due to the unauthorized operation.
The incident occurred on December 3, 2023, resulting in the death of several villagers during a Nigerian Army drone strike on Muslim worshipers.
While Buba refrained from divulging further details, he emphasized that the incident was a mistake, as the victims were mistakenly identified as terrorists.
He assured that steps would be taken to prevent similar incidents in future operations to safeguard non-combatants.
