Messi’s decision is rooted in a desire to prioritize his current commitments. He is currently focused on leading Argentina in their Copa America title defence, which kicks off on June 20th in the United States. Participating in the Olympics, which run through July and August, would create a demanding three-month stretch away from his club, Inter Miami.
At 36, Messi acknowledges that his playing time needs to be managed carefully. “I’m not at an age to be in everything,” he stated.
