Marcus Rashford, United’s biggest attacking threat, tested Villa’s keeper, Emi Martinez, early on but couldn’t find the back of the net. A series of injuries saw further defensive changes at halftime, but neither side could capitalize, with Fernandes’ free kick being United’s closest chance.
Villa, though fresh from their midweek success, failed to spark, despite efforts from Jhon Duran and Jaden Philogene, who came close to snatching a late winner. As United face an international break, speculation grows on whether the club’s hierarchy will stand by Ten Hag or seek new leadership.
