Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State was on Tuesday rocked by an uncommon explosion at the Bodija area of the state.
The explosion which took place around 8 pm was heard in places like the Agodi, Gate, Sango, Apete, Eleyele and some parts of the city.
CRUX NEWS gathered that the incident which took place at Deji Oyelese Street on Adeyi Avenue area of Bodija.
Some workers at the State Secretariat when the explosion took place told our correspondent that windows and particles of the explosion shook offices when it occurred.
Meanwhile, Oyo State governor, Engr Seyi Makinde has appealed to Ibadan residents to remain claim.
A statement by Prince Dotun Oyelese, the state’s Commissioner for Information said all security service chiefs including para military chiefs and Fire Operatives have been deployed by the governor to reign in the spillover from the explosion.
Makinde implored citizens to calm down and be rest assured that their interests are being looked after.
The governor said the incident is under control as security operatives, including the anti-bomb experts and other agencies have been mobilized to the scene of the incident.
The cause of the explosion remains unknown but residents in the area said that wounded people are being evaluated to nearby hospitals for treatment.
