On Wednesday, Liverpool Football Club announced the appointment of John Heitinga as the new assistant coach for the men’s first team under head coach Arne Slot for the upcoming 2024-2025 season.
Heitinga, renowned for his career as a centre-back, brings a wealth of experience to Liverpool. The 40-year-old Dutchman earned 87 caps for the Netherlands national team and played for prominent clubs such as Ajax, Atletico Madrid, Everton, Fulham, and Hertha BSC before retiring from professional football in 2016.

Prior to joining Liverpool, Heitinga served as the first-team assistant coach at West Ham United during the previous season, contributing to the club’s coaching setup.
Liverpool confirmed the appointment via a statement on their official website, marking Heitinga as the latest addition to enhance the coaching staff ahead of the new season.
