Six football shirts worn by Lionel Messi at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar have been sold for $7.8 million at auction, setting a record for the most valuable item of sporting memorabilia sold this year.
The auction, conducted by Sotheby’s, featured Messi’s match-worn iconic light blue and white Argentina shirts from the historic 2022 FIFA World Cup run.
