The Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese and Convener of the National Peace Committee, Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah, has called for peaceful resolution of conflict between organized labour and the Imo State government.
He said this while speaking during an interview on ChannelS TV Sunrise Daily Programme on Wednesday.
Bishop Kukah, who sued for peace between the aggrieved labour and the state government, said the parties should sheath their sword and allow peaceful election in the state.
He urged the organized labour, to seek alternative means of resolving their issues, adding in spite of any agitations, common good should be the goal.
He implored the labour unions to circumspect on the happenings in Gaza, and act in the interest of Nigeria, adding that a trade union will be inexistent without Nigeria.
He also appealed to the police and other relevant agencies to ensure security during the governorship elections in the three states, adding that citizens’ welfare outweigh personal or group interests.
