Liverpool’s soon-to-depart manager, Juergen Klopp, has said that winning the League Cup would be a crucial addition to the final segment of a memoir with Liverpool.
Klopp has announced his decision to step down as Liverpool manager at the end of the season, citing dwindling energy levels.
The 56-year-old, who is the only Liverpool manager to win six different major trophies, is looking to add another feather in his cap with the League Cup victory.
He would dedicate the victory to everyone connected to the Merseyside club as part of his trophy-laden nine-year epoch.
Klopp has been instrumental in Liverpool’s success over the years, and he believes that the League Cup would be a fitting tribute to the players, the club, and the fans.
“I want to win on Sunday but not for me or my trophy cabinet. It is for the boys, for the club, for the people. That is much more important,” Klopp said of the League Cup final.
“We wrote, and we are still writing, a wonderful book, and when I leave we close that book and put it on the shelf, and then someone else will write a wonderful book.”
Klopp’s nine-year reign at Liverpool has been nothing short of spectacular, and he has led the team to several major trophies, including the Premier League, Champions League, and the FIFA Club World Cup.

However, the League Cup has always been a special competition for Klopp, and he is determined to win it again this season.
Liverpool’s injury list is a concern for Klopp as they head into the final against Chelsea.
The likes of Diogo Jota, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Alisson, and Curtis Jones are sidelined, while Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez, and midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai are doubtful for Sunday.
Despite the injury concerns, Klopp is confident that his team can put up a good fight and secure their record-extending 10th League Cup triumph at Wembley.
Liverpool’s most recent triumph came in the 2021-22 campaign when they also lifted the FA Cup, narrowly missing out on securing a treble as they finished second in the Premier League.
Klopp’s departure at the end of the season will mark the end of an era at Liverpool, but he is determined to leave the club on a high note by adding another trophy to his impressive haul.
