The 2023 annual Lagos Women Run is an event that aims to empower women and provide them with a platform to thrive.
The race will reward its winners with increased prize money and offer empowerment programmes to all participants.
The Convener of Lagos Women Run, Tayo Popoola, announced on Thursday in Lagos that the prize money had been raised from N1 million to N1.5 million.
Popoola also announced that several empowerment programmes had been added to the event to make it more beneficial for the participants.
This year’s edition of the Lagos Women Run promises to be unique, as it has added various empowerment programmes to positively impact the lives of women through exhibitions, lectures and vocational training.
All the programmes lined up are tailored to improve the living conditions of the women.
The organisers of the Lagos Women Run have been able to increase the number of winners from each category from 10 to 20 winners.

The open category will accommodate 20 winners, likewise the veterans category.
The aim is to make the event bigger every year with more women participating, intending to have up to 50,000 in attendance.
Director, Office of the Chief of Staff, Lagos State government, Tokunbo Bombata, emphasised that the annual Women Run would continue to grow.
The event brings women together to support them in small businesses and finance and is sort of an empowerment programme.
The organisers have already registered over 8,000 women for this year’s edition and plan to surpass last year’s mark of over 10,000.
The 8th edition of the race will take place on Nov. 11 starting at the Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), Lagos Island.
With the increased prize money and added empowerment programmes, this year’s Lagos Women Run promises to be a memorable event for all participants.
