The Lagos State Police Command has brought charges against Stella Nwadigbo, a 45-year-old teacher, for the indecent treatment and assault of a young child.
Court Appearance and Charges
Nwadigbo was presented in Magistrate Court 1, Ogba, on Thursday, following a statement from the police spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin. The charges stem from a widely circulated video where she was seen mistreating a three-year-old student at a school in Ikorodu, Lagos.
Swift Police Action
After the video came to light, the Family Support Unit of the Ikorodu Police Division arrested Nwadigbo on January 8, 2025. She was subsequently moved to the Gender Unit at the Command Headquarters for further investigation after initial assessments.
Victim’s Welfare
The police ensured that the child involved received immediate medical care. Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed that the victim was taken to a medical facility for proper treatment.
Legal Proceedings
Nwadigbo has been detained at the Kirikiri Correctional Facility, with her next court appearance scheduled for February 18, 2025, to continue the hearing of her case.
