Rafiu Ajakaye, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, shared the sad news with journalists, emphasizing the depth of mourning felt by the state’s leadership. The statement read, “In total submission to the will of Allaah, we regret to announce the passing of the Chief of Staff to His Excellency, Prince AbdulKadir Mahe. He died this morning, December 28, 2024, as has been destined by Allah.”

Prince Mahe’s funeral was scheduled for the same day at his residence on Moro Street, Adewole Estate, Ilorin, following the Asr prayer, reflecting the swift traditional burial practices in Islam.
Governor’s Condolences and Prayers
Governor AbdulRazaq expressed his deep sorrow over the loss, describing Mahe as “a perfect gentleman, community leader, urbane public servant, and statesman.” He extended his condolences to the Emir of Ilorin, Dr. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, Mahe’s family, government institutions, and the state’s cabinet members. A Legacy of Service
Prince Abdulkadir Mahe was the eldest son of the 10th Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Aliyu Abdulkadir. He had served as Chief of Staff for approximately 17 months, taking over from Alhaji Adisa Logun, who also passed away while in office three years prior during the Governor’s first term.
