All private schools operating in Kano State have been prevented by the state government from increasing their school fees.
Operating licences of the schools were earlier in the week withdrawn by the government.
The licenses are expected to be renewed in line with Governor Abba Yusuf’s policy on quality education in the state.
The decision followed a meeting between the Special Adviser to the Kano State Government on Private Schools, Baba Umar and private schools stakeholders.
Umar noted that the suspension of increment of school fees for private schools is to ensure that there are no exploitations.
However, some school owners and parents have mixed feelings on the government’s decision.
