Villagers in Tudun Biri, Kaduna State, have filed a lawsuit against the Federal Government, seeking N33 billion in compensation for a recent army airstrike that claimed over 100 lives.
The suit, filed on December 8 in a Federal High Court, demands an apology published in three national dailies.
The villagers, represented by Alhaji Dalhatu Salihu and counsel Mukhtar Usman, aim to enforce the survivors’ fundamental right to life.
The relief sought includes a declaration that the aerial bombardment violated constitutional rights and the African Charter on Human and Peoples Rights.
The hearing date is yet to be scheduled.
