A court in Italy has ruled that Juventus must pay Cristiano Ronaldo £8.3 million in unpaid wages. The dispute stems from deferred wages during the 2020-21 season when COVID-19 disrupted Italian football.
Ronaldo, who played for Juventus from 2018 to 2021, had initially claimed he was owed over £17 million. The Court of Arbitration determined the appropriate compensation considers taxes and other deductions.
The Portuguese forward helped Juventus secure two Serie A titles during his three-year stint. Following his departure, he returned to Manchester United for a second spell before signing with Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr in January 2023.
Despite this financial disagreement, Ronaldo’s achievements remain impressive. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner was recognized as the world’s highest-paid athlete in 2023 by Forbes magazine, with earnings reaching £109 million.
