Students of Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA), Ondo State on Friday, protested the incessant robbery attacks against their off campus hostels in Akure.
The students took to the streets and barricaded the Akure-Ilesha expressway while singing various solidarity songs.
Addressing journalists, the students claimed that the protest was meant to call the attention of the management of the institution, the government, and the security agencies to act to save them from the being victims of the atrocities of the attackers.
Reacting to the development, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Funmilayo Odunlami, said police officers had been deployed to the area to ensure the protest was not hijacked by hoodlums.
