The Senate has announced the removal of Senator Mohamed Ali Ndume (Borno South) as Chief Whip following a unanimous voice vote on Wednesday.
This decision came after a letter of complaint from the APC National Headquarters was read by the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio.
The letter, which criticized Senator Ndume’s recent utterances, prompted the decision to replace him with Senator Tahir Mungono (Borno North).

Senator Ndume’s removal comes amid his recent criticisms of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government. In response, the national leadership of the ruling APC sent a letter to the Senate Caucus, asking Ndume to resign his membership of the party and join any opposition party of his choice.
The letter was signed by the party’s National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, and Secretary, Barrister Ajibola Bashiru.
