Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede has officially taken up the position of the 24th Chief of Army Staff (COAS) of the Nigerian Army, following the confirmation of his appointment by both chambers of the National Assembly. During the Regimental Quarter Guard ceremony, Lt. Gen. Oluyede paid homage to his predecessor, the late Lt. General Taoreed Lagbaja, commending the Nigerian Army for their support during the transition period and the burial of the former COAS. Oluyede praised Lagbaja for his exceptional service, highlighting the need for unity and innovation in moving forward.

Major General Ohwonigho Akpor, the Chief of Administration Army, described the flag retirement ceremony as a significant regimental tradition. The old Nigerian Army flag was ceremonially retired to the Army Museum, symbolizing the end of Lagbaja’s tenure and preserving his legacy within the institution.
