During a trip on Thursday morning, an escort on an Abuja-bound train tragically passed away.
A passenger who observed the event noted that there were no indications of illness in the deceased when the train departed from Kaduna.
The witness recounted that the officer later experienced chest pain and sought assistance before his demise.
“A police officer serving as an escort on the Abuja-Kaduna train died unexpectedly. He appeared healthy when he left home, but during the trip, he began to suffer from chest pain and requested glucose and water from a colleague.”
“Unfortunately, there was no emergency medical service available on the train. By the time a doctor, who was among the passengers, responded, the officer had already succumbed.”
Following his death, the officer’s body was respectfully moved to one side of the train, and his face was covered.
Videos depicted passengers gathered, discussing the deceased’s fate.
The train reached Kubwa in Abuja at approximately 3:20 pm, after which the passengers disembarked.
Security personnel at the scene stopped passengers from recording the incident.
Roughly 20 minutes following the train’s arrival, a police van arrived at the station to transport the body to a mortuary.
Efforts to contact Mahmoud Yakubu, the Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Railway Corporation, were unsuccessful at the time this report was filed, as his phone was switched off.
