The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has conducted a major operation in Nasarawa State, targeting counterfeit and adulterated alcoholic beverages. Raids were carried out in wine shops across Mararaba Market, New Nyanya, and Masaka, resulting in the seizure of fake wines and spirits valued at over ₦41.2 million.
This crackdown is part of NAFDAC’s ongoing efforts to combat the circulation of substandard and harmful alcoholic products, which pose serious health risks to consumers. According to officials, the seized items included a variety of counterfeit brands and adulterated products that failed to meet safety standards.
NAFDAC has issued a warning to consumers, urging caution and advising them to verify the authenticity of products before purchase. The agency also emphasized its commitment to prosecuting offenders and dismantling networks involved in the production and distribution of fake alcoholic beverages.
