The military has issued a wanted notice for Halilu Buzu, citing his involvement in terrorist activities, illegal arms trafficking, unlawful mining, and cattle rustling.
During a bi-weekly media briefing in Abuja, Major General Edward Buba, the Director of Operations, revealed that Halilu Buzu, a native of Niger, operates from a forest in Zamfara State, frequently fleeing to Niger after executing operations in Nigeria.
General Buba affirmed collaboration with counterparts from Niger Republic to apprehend Buzu, who commands a significant following.
Moreover, Buba disclosed the Nigerian Army’s successful rescue of 253 kidnapped victims within the past two weeks, attributed to the efforts of Operations Y-Watch, Nokia-Fighting Patrols, and Operations Delta State.
In addition to announcing the elimination of insurgents, Buba underscored the necessity of prevailing in the fight against terrorism.
Furthermore, Buba reported the neutralization of 227 terrorists, the apprehension of 529 others, and the arrest of eleven individuals involved in oil theft during the reviewed period.
He emphasized the military’s unwavering commitment to targeting these terrorist elements and removing them from the battlefield promptly, ensuring their fate is swiftly determined through decisive action.
