The Ikeja High Court in Lagos State has ordered the remand of former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor Godwin Emefiele in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Emefiele, previously arraigned with co-defendant Henry Isioma Omole on 26 new counts before Justice Rahman Oshodi, entered a plea of not guilty.

The charges, under the case number ID/23787c/2024 dated April 3, 2024, were brought before the court.
A. Labo-Lawal, the defense attorney, requested the court to continue Emefiele’s bail on self-recognizance, as previously granted by an Abuja court, and to extend the same courtesy to the second defendant, as granted by Justice O – Sule-Hamzat.
Rotimi Oyedepo (SAN), the prosecuting counsel, did not contest the bail pleas.
However, Justice Oshodi decided to remand Emefiele in EFCC custody and the second defendant in the Ikoyi Correctional Centre, postponing the case until April 11 for the bail ruling and the start of the trial.
