Rabiu Kwankwaso, former Governor of Kano State and leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), has accused the Federal Government of undermining constitutional democracy by deliberately excluding Kano State from the recent distribution of rice palliatives to the 36 states of the federation.
Kwankwaso expressed his displeasure over the omission, arguing that it is unjust and undermines the principles of fairness and equity in the governance of Nigeria. He highlighted that the palliative distribution, aimed at cushioning the economic hardship faced by Nigerians due to recent fuel subsidy removal, should not be selective or politically motivated.
The rice palliatives were distributed to assist citizens in mitigating the impact of rising costs of essential commodities. However, Kwankwaso criticized the Federal Government for what he perceived as an act of marginalization, pointing out that Kano, being one of the most populous states in the country, should not be left out of such relief efforts.

He called on the Federal Government to immediately rectify this oversight and ensure that Kano State receives its fair share of the palliatives. Kwankwaso also urged state leaders and citizens to continue advocating for fairness and inclusivity in the distribution of national resources.
