At least four residents of the Bmuko community in the Dutse Baupma area of Bwari Area Council, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), have fallen victim to suspected gunmen in a harrowing incident.
As recounted by a resident, Mr. Isa, the tranquility of the community was shattered around 11:50 pm on Monday when a sizable group of armed individuals descended upon the area, making a beeline for the residence of Engineer Patrick.
Among the abductees were Patrick’s wife and brother, taken in the dead of night by the assailants, who numbered around 30.
Reports indicate that the gunmen, after seizing their initial targets, split into two factions. One faction headed towards the riverside, leading to Kubwa and Bwari, while the other ventured towards the hillside.
Further chaos ensued as the latter group targeted another nearby household, where they snatched a Pastor and another young man. Residents, gripped by fear, found themselves powerless in the face of the brazen attack, as gunshots rang out and the assailants carried out their sinister mission.
Confirmation of the ordeal came with the sound of gunfire minutes before midnight, prompting swift action from concerned residents and intervention from security forces.
Despite their efforts, however, the perpetrators managed to evade capture, leaving behind a trail of anguish and uncertainty.
Expressing frustration at the lack of a permanent security presence in the area, a community leader emphasized the urgent need for a police outpost to curb such incidents.
With the kidnapped individuals still missing and no ransom demands received, the community remains on edge, fervently hoping for their safe return.
The severity of the situation was underscored by the discovery of AK47 bullets at the scene, highlighting the brazenness and firepower of the perpetrators.
As prayers for the safety of the abducted individuals echo through the community, residents cling to the hope of a swift and successful rescue operation.
