Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, administered the oath of office to eight commissioner nominees, following their screening by the State House of Assembly.
In his charge to them, Governor Fubara emphasized the importance of maintaining accurate records in their respective ministries, stating that such practices are vital for the effective functioning of the civil service.
The swearing-in ceremony, which took place at the Executive Council Chamber of the Government, occurred shortly after the State Assembly, led by Victor Oko-Jumbo, screened and confirmed all eight nominees.
Governor Fubara expressed concern over the lack of proper documentation by some former commissioners, stressing the necessity for meticulous record-keeping to ensure accountability and productivity within the government.
He urged the newly appointed commissioners to seek guidance from their Permanent Secretaries and emulate a culture of discipline and attention to detail. Governor Fubara emphasized that discipline is a cornerstone of his administration and encouraged the commissioners to uphold this standard while discharging their duties.
Furthermore, Governor Fubara highlighted the importance of transparency and accountability, asserting that his government operates with high levels of discipline and maintains comprehensive records of its activities.
In concluding his address, Governor Fubara reminded the commissioners of their oath of service, emphasizing their responsibility to serve the people of Rivers State diligently and uphold the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
He expressed confidence in their integrity and urged them to prioritize the interests of the state above personal agendas, pledging his support as they work towards achieving greater success for Rivers State.
