The Federal Government has announced Wednesday, May 1, as a public holiday to celebrate this year’s Workers’ Day.
The announcement was made in a statement released on Tuesday in Abuja by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Dr. Aishetu Gogo Ndayako, on behalf of the Minister, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo, speaking for the Federal Government, emphasized the importance of excellence, efficiency, and fairness in all labor sectors, reaffirming President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration’s dedication to nurturing a culture of innovation, productivity, and inclusiveness in the workplace.
“In line with this year’s theme, which is centered on ensuring safety and health at work amidst a changing climate, I want to express the Federal Government’s unwavering commitment to the safety and well-being of all citizens,” he stated.
He reiterated the President’s pledge to create a favorable work environment where every worker can prosper and contribute significantly to the nation’s progress.
Recognizing the contributions of workers, he advocated for proactive steps to counteract the negative impacts of climate change by collaborating in the implementation of sustainable practices and policies that support well-being at work and the construction of a nation founded on integrity, diligence, and compassion.
The Minister also encouraged Nigerians to stay dedicated to the current administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda and extended his best wishes for a joyful Workers’ Day celebration.
