In a significant move to address the growing need for structured post-graduation service programs, the Federal Government of Nigeria has announced plans to launch a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) equivalent for graduates of the National Certificate in Education (NCE).
This initiative aims to provide NCE graduates with opportunities similar to those afforded to university graduates through the NYSC, ensuring that all graduates contribute meaningfully to national development.
The Minister of Education highlighted that this program would focus on areas critical to the nation’s educational needs, particularly in underserved regions. Graduates will be deployed to various educational institutions across the country, where they will participate in teaching, community development projects, and other educational activities. The program is expected to bridge the gap in teacher shortages and enhance the quality of education in Nigeria.
