Explosions rocked the Tony Okocha-led All Progressives Congress (APC) secretariat in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, destroying buildings and properties. The blast shattered the secretariat’s gate and damaged doors and windows.
This incident occurred on Saturday morning, October 5, 2024, while the local government election was underway in the state.
The Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission had distributed sensitive materials to various local government areas the previous day. A viral video showed workers assessing the damage at the secretariat.

Police spokesperson Grace Iringe-Koko stated she hadn’t received a report on the incident but promised to follow up.
This isn’t the first time the APC secretariat has been attacked; it’s the second incident this year. The party is yet to release a statement on the matter.
