The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has refuted recent media reports suggesting that former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, is in their custody. In a statement released by Dele Oyewale, the Head of Media and Publicity, the anti-graft agency clarified that Bello has not been apprehended and remains a wanted individual.
Bello, who is facing allegations of laundering N80.2 billion during his tenure as governor, had previously been declared wanted by the EFCC. The Commission reaffirmed that an arrest warrant for the former governor is still active, and he has yet to turn himself in or be taken into custody by the authorities.
Despite reports circulating that Bello had surrendered himself to the EFCC, the agency maintained that these claims were false and that efforts to apprehend him are ongoing.

The EFCC urged the public to disregard any inaccurate information about his supposed detention, as he remains at large pending further action.
