The High Court of the Federal Capital Territory in Abuja, located at Apo, has issued an injunction preventing 21 Local Government Areas in Anambra State from receiving funds from the consolidated revenue.
Justice Bello Kawo delivered the ruling, which also enjoined the Accountant General of the Federation and the Minister of Finance from disbursing funds to these LGAs from the federation account until a pending lawsuit is resolved.
Additionally, the court directed the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to investigate the utilization of funds by the Anambra state government from March 2022 to April 2024. This directive resulted from an exparte motion filed by a lawyer, Mr. Chukwuebuka Mmeni.

The defendants listed in the case include the Accountant General of the Federation, the Minister of Finance, the Attorney General of the Federation, the Anambra State Government, and the EFCC.
Justice Kawo approved all the applicant’s requests after reviewing the exparte motion, a nine-paragraph affidavit with annexures, and the oral argument presented by counsel N. O. Okpe, representing Chimezie Enuka.
