Temporary relief has come the way of the immediate past governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje with the order barring the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission and other security agents from apprehending him over a viral video.
The Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission and other security agents have been stopped from from inviting or harassing Ganduje over the alleged dollar bribery videos.
A Federal High Court sitting in Kano gave the order on Friday in an ex-parte motion filed before the court on Friday before Justice A.M. Liman.
The former governor had prayed the court to restrain the eighth respondents in the motion from “harassing, intimidating, inviting, threatening to arrest, arresting, detaining the applicant or his children or any member of his family or any appointee who served in his administration or forcefully taking over the applicant’s properties or his children’s or any member of his family over the said video.
The state’s anti-corruption agency on Thursday announced that it had invited the former governor to appear before it next week.
The summon, the agency noted, was for the former governor to answer questions in relations to its investigation on the viral videos allegedly showing him stuffing US Dollar allegedly received as kickbacks from a contractor notes in his pockets.
Ganduje had denied the video as doctored when it was first published by on online newspaper, Daily Nigerian on whose account its publisher, Mr. Jafar Jafar left the country over alleged threats to his life over the revelation.
