Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has passed away at the age of 82. The news was confirmed in a statement released on Thursday by his son, Jide Iwuanyanwu.
According to the statement, Chief Iwuanyanwu died after a brief illness. He was a prominent leader in the Igbo community, serving not only as President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo worldwide but also as President of the Owerri Peoples Assembly.
The Iwuanyanwu family, based in Umuohii Atta, Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo State, announced his passing with deep sorrow. Chief Iwuanyanwu is survived by his wife, Lady Princess Frances Iwuanyanwu, as well as numerous children and grandchildren.

Details regarding the burial arrangements will be communicated by the family following further consultations.
