1. Terrorist Attacks In Nigeria
On this day in 2014, two simultaneous attacks by Boko haram terrorists occurred in nothern Nigeria. The attacks, which took place in Kawuri, Borno state and a Cathlolic church in Chakawa village, Madagali Local Government Area, Adamawa State respectively led to no fewer than 138 deaths.
2. Human Rights And Environmental Groups Worldwide Called For Suspension Of Oil Related Operations In Nigeria
On this day in 1999, following several reports of human rights abuses against protesters in the oil-rich nation of Nigeria, human rights and environmental groups worldwide, such as including the Sierra Club and Human Rights Watch urged foreign oil companies like Shell, Chevron, and Mobil to suspend their operations until the military withdraws from the oil-producing Delta region in southeastern Nigeria and the crisis is abated.

5. President Siad Barre Of Somalia Fled His Country
On this day in 1991, dictator president Siad Barre of Somalia, fled Mogadishu in a tank for the Kenya border after he was deposed by militant and non-violent groups. His successful deposition led to the Somali civil War and unrest.
6. Nadya Suleiman Gave Birth To The First Surviving Octuplets In The World
On this day in 2009, Nadya Suleman an American media personality also known as “octo mom” gave birth to the first surviving octuplet in the World.
7. Calabasas Helicopter Crash
On this day in 2020, Sikorsky S-76B helicopter en route from John Wayne Airport to Camarillo Airport crashed in the city of Calabasas, California. Retired professional NBA basketball player Kobe Bryant, his 13-year-old daughter Gianna Bryant and all other passengers onboard died in the crash.
