The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced a two-week extension for the 2024 Direct Entry (DE) registration period.
In a statement released by its spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, the board stated that the extension aims to allow all interested candidates to complete their registration.
It is important to note that the 2024 Direct Entry registration began on Wednesday, 28th February 2024, and was initially set to end on Thursday, 28th March 2024.
However, due to considerations taken into account, JAMB has decided to extend the registration deadline by an additional two weeks, now concluding on Thursday, 11th April 2024.
The decision for this extension was made in response to the difficulties encountered by candidates during certain security screening processes, which were instituted to curb the frequent and troubling instances of counterfeit A’level certificates presented by some DE candidates.
The Board expresses regret for the inconvenience caused to prospective DE candidates and commits to making the process more user-friendly in the future.
Nonetheless, the Board remains resolute in its determination to prevent candidates with fraudulently obtained certificates from benefiting from them.
Additionally, it should be noted that candidates from institutions that have not verified their certificates, despite repeated requests, will not be permitted to register until they fulfill the necessary requirements.
