The Italian GP at Monza was a thrilling race that witnessed Max Verstappen setting a new record for the most consecutive wins in Formula 1.
The Red Bull driver claimed his 10th consecutive victory, surpassing Sebastian Vettel’s record of nine straight wins from 2013.
Verstappen started from second on the grid and overtook pole-sitter Carlos Sainz before the first and only pit stops to secure the win.
With this triumph, Verstappen extends his lead to 145 points in the drivers’ championship from second-placed Sergio Perez.
Red Bull maintains its unbeaten record in 2023.
Verstappen, who made history with his remarkable feat, said that he never thought it was possible to win ten races in a row.
He added that it was hard to get close to his opponents due to their top speed, but he managed to force an error from Sainz and capitalize on the opportunity.
Meanwhile, Perez fought hard to make it a Red Bull one-two, but he faced stiff competition from Charles Leclerc, who nearly ran into the back of Sainz on the final lap.
In the end, it was Sainz who clinched the third spot on the podium, just holding off Leclerc’s challenge.
The race also saw some impressive performances from George Russell and Lewis Hamilton.
Russell finished fifth and beat his Mercedes team-mate, Hamilton, who took the sixth spot despite a late collision with Oscar Piastri’s McLaren.
