Anambra State-born Miss Mmesoma Ejikeme who was accused by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) of falsifying her 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) result has rendered apology to the examination body.
The 19-year old candidate read an apology letter in an investigative hearing by the House of Representatives Ad hoc Committee to probe the matter headed by Prof Sada Solo.
JAMB Registrar, Prof Isiaka Oloyede was also present during the hearing where the candidate pleaded for leniency as she promised such would not happen again.
The teenager said she had never been involved in examination malpractice all her life.
The Crux recalls that a panel of enquiry set up by Governor Charles Soludo had confirmed that Ejikeme manipulated her UMTE result.

The panel in its eight-page report held that the 19-year old Mmesoma actually doctored her UMTE score from 249 to 362.
The panel then recommended that Mmesoma immediately tender an unreserved written apology to JAMB, the school (Anglican Girls’ Secondary School, Uruagu Nnewi), and the state government.
The state panel aslo recommended that the teenage student should undergo psychological counselling and therapy.
The State governor had set up the panel to unravel the controversy between JAMB and Mmesoma, whose UTME result has come under controversy, with the mandate of making its findings public.
Mmesoma, a student of Anglican Girls Secondary School, Nnewi, had sat for the UTME in May and came under scrutiny for parading the “highest score” of 362, which JAMB later revealed was manipulated.
The panel said it conducted interviews with relevant parties, including Mmesoma, JAMB officials and other individual(s) involved in the process as well as the principal of Anglican Girls Secondary School.
