Israel launched airstrikes on Houthi-held territories in Yemen, targeting strategic locations in Ras Isa and Hodeidah to halt Iranian arms supplies to the region, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced on Sunday.
The IDF confirmed that the strikes focused on military installations, including power plants and a seaport, which were being used by the Houthis to transfer Iranian weapons and military supplies. This action comes as part of Israel’s broader effort to disrupt Iranian-backed groups across the Middle East.
The Israeli Air Force (IAF) carried out the strikes in response to recent Houthi attacks on Israel, which the IDF said were funded and directed by Iran. The Houthis, along with Iraqi militias, have reportedly aimed to destabilize the region and challenge Israel’s security.
“The IDF remains committed to operating wherever necessary to neutralize threats to Israel’s citizens, both near and far,” the statement concluded.
This marks a continuation of Israel’s proactive stance against Iranian influence in the region, particularly focusing on groups like the Houthis, which are seen as destabilizing forces under Iran’s influence.
