Ambassador Michael Freeman of Israel has declared his country’s willingness to partner with the Nigerian First Lady’s Office on initiatives focused on empowering women, youth, and education.
The announcement came through a statement from Busola Kukoyi, Senior Special Assistant on Media to the First Lady.
During a courtesy visit to First Lady Oluremi Tinubu at the State House in Abuja, Ambassador Freeman outlined the Israeli government’s plans and praised the First Lady’s efforts in women’s empowerment, agriculture, youth, and education.
He identified four main areas for collaboration, notably in science and technology, with plans to create 30 additional innovation centers throughout Nigeria, building on the success of the existing center in Abuja.
Furthermore, Ambassador Freeman revealed intentions to establish computer classrooms for girls rescued from trafficking and a Textile Arts Programme to train young Nigerians, featuring expertise from Israeli professionals.
Mrs. Tinubu welcomed the collaboration, highlighting that the focal areas resonate with her interests.
She expressed optimism that Nigeria’s challenges will be surmounted with the aid of international allies, stating, “With your cooperation and support, which has been remarkable, we are on our way to greatness.”
The visiting delegation also included Deputy Ambassador Inbar Lipman Garden.
This initiative is anticipated to enhance Nigeria-Israel bilateral ties, especially in innovation, technology, and the empowerment of women.
