FIFA, the world’s soccer ruling body, has appointed officials for the upcoming senior international match between Nigeria and Mozambique to be held in Portugal.
The match referee will be Miguel Nogueira, a Portuguese official, while his compatriots, Paulo Bras, Ana Loide, and Bruno Viera, will work as assistant referees 1 and 2 and fourth official, respectively.
The encounter is set to take place at the Estadio Municipal de Portimão next week Friday and will be the fifth meeting between the two countries at the senior level.
The Super Eagles won the first meeting between the two teams in a friendly match where they edged out the Mambas by a single goal in Maputo.
This was followed by two memorable clashes in 2009, in the race to the 2010 FIFA World Cup finals in South Africa.
In Maputo, both teams settled for a scoreless draw, while in Abuja, the game was heading towards the same scoreline before Obinna Nsofor scored a powerful header, securing three points for Nigeria and saving them from elimination in the race.
Ademola Olajire, the Director of Communications at the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), revealed this information in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja.
The upcoming match in Portugal will see the Eagles and Mambas face off once again.
When both teams met at the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations in Angola, the Super Eagles thrashed the Mambas 3-0 in the city of Lubango.
With this history, fans can expect an intense and exciting match on Monday.
The game is set to start at 4 pm Portugal time, which is the same time as Nigeria.
The Eagles are expected to start arriving at the Penina Hotel and Resort in Portimao on Tuesday, with a friendly match against the Green Falcons of Saudi Arabia scheduled for Friday.
