Olamide Oladiji, the Ondo State House of Assembly’s speaker, has stated that part of the resolutions reached after the recent meeting with President Bola Tinubu over the political crisis in the state was the signing of an undated letter by the deputy governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
The letter is said to be activated if deputy governor contravened any of the resolutions reached in the peace meeting with stakeholders from the state.
Disclosing this during the first plenary of the Assembly after the meeting, the Speaker noted that there was no resolution reached to the effect that Aiyedatiwa will be made acting governor, stressing that the status quo will remain.
According to Oladiji, the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Oladunni Odu, the State Chairman of the party, Ade Adetimehin and himself had been mandated to ensure full enforcement of the resolutions.
“Dear Colleagues, Please permit me to formally welcome you to this Hallowed Chamber following the recent harrowing and tortuous political crisis that shook the entire State to the marrow.
“Without any iota of doubt in my mind, I strongly believe that we all acted in line with the mandate given to us as representatives of the people.
“For the avoidance of doubt, let me present to the good people of Ondo State, the resolution reached after the meeting with representatives of Ondo State, House of Assembly and State Executive Council members, members of the National Assembly from Ondo State and the State Chairman of our party with his Excellency, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“That all parties shall embrace peace. That status quo shall be maintained by all parties. That all impeachment proceedings be deactivated forthwith and all court cases be withdrawn by all parties.
“That there will be no desolutuon of the State Executive Council. That the leadership of the party and the restructure remain intact. That the House of Assembly leadership remains intact.
“That Hon. Lucky Orimisan Ayedatiwa to continue to perform the function of the office as deputy governor. That undated letter of resignation must be written, signed by the Deputy Governor and submitted to the President.
“That three enforcers including the State Chairman of the APC, Engr. Ade Adetimehin, the Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, my humble self, Rt. Hon. Oladiji Olamide and the Secretary to the Ondo State Government, Princess Oladunni Odu were appointed to monitor compliance with ongoing resolutions.
“Let me at this juncture warn politicians, other gladiators fanning the embers of war in this state because of their political interest to please tread softly as the House of Assembly will not hesitate to deploy the full weight of the law in calling them to order.”
