The Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, has ordered the redeployment of the Bayelsa state commissioner of police, Tolani Alausa.
Alausa was replaced by CP Alonyenu Francis Idu.
Announcing the development on Thursday, the State’s Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Asinim Butswat in a statement made available to CRUX NEWS said “The Bayelsa State Police Command wishes to inform the general public that a new Commissioner has been posted to the State. He is CP Alonyenu Francis Idu”
The CP has officially assumed duty as the 37th Commissioner of Police, Bayelsa state Command.
However, Alausa has been redeployed to the Force Headquarters, Abuja.
CRUX NEWS recalls that there were a series of protests for Alausa redeployment over his allegedly biased involvement in the build up to the last Saturday’s off circle election in the state.
Also counted against the removed CP is the order to shoot tear gas at harmless women protesters during the eve of the Bayelsa Guber elections. He was also accused of deploying politicians to mount pressure on the IG for his return to bayelsa to supervise the election after the routine deployment out like his colleague CPs in Kogi and Imo.
