The Israeli military, also known as the Israel Defence Forces (IDF), has announced that it will undertake a comprehensive investigation into the deaths of seven aid workers associated with the World Central Kitchen (WCK). The aid organization is renowned for providing food to people in need across the world.
The IDF spokesperson, Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, has pledged to conduct the investigation “at the highest levels” to ensure that the circumstances that led to the tragic incident are thoroughly examined and transparently shared with the public.
In a video message posted on an online platform, Hagari emphasized that the Israeli military is committed to upholding
international law and that it will leave no stone unturned in its quest for answers. He also expressed his condolences to the head of WCK, José Andrés, and acknowledged the vital role that the organization has played in assisting Israel following the recent attacks from the Gaza Strip.
Furthermore, Hagari reiterated the significant contribution of WCK to humanitarian efforts across the globe and stressed that the military will do everything in its power to prevent such occurrences from happening again. The IDF spokesperson’s statement reflects the military’s commitment to transparency and accountability, ensuring that justice is served for the aid workers who lost their lives in the line of duty.
