In Niger State’s Suleja Area, suspected hoodlums hijacked trailers loaded with foodstuff on Thursday, prompting soldiers to open fire.
Witnesses reported that the hoodlums blocked trailers coming from Abuja to Kaduna, stealing bags of assorted foodstuffs, especially rice, before soldiers arrived and dispersed them with gunfire.
Despite the intervention, many hoodlums managed to escape with stolen items.
The incident occurred against the backdrop of nationwide protests due to increasing hardship across the country.
